The 3008 main processor module (MP) can be used for Tricon v9.6 and higher versions of the system, and 3 MPs must be installed in the main chassis of each Tricon system. Each MP communicates independently with its I/O subsystem and executes user written control programs. The system also includes the Tricon Communication Module (TCM), which allows Tricon to communicate with other devices via Ethernet.

The system fully complies with the International Electrotechnical Commission’s IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 standards and has the following characteristics:
