XL preprocessor sensors, such as the 3300 XL preprocessor sensor developed by Bently Nevada, are part of the proximity sensor system. It is primarily used to measure static (position) and dynamic (vibration) readings and can output a voltage proportional to the distance between the probe tip and the observed conductive surface. This sensor system is particularly suitable for vibration and position measurement of fluid film bearing machines, as well as bond phase reference and velocity measurement.

The 3300 XL Series precursors system also includes eddy current sensor cable precursors for shaft vibration and shaft displacement measurements of bearing machinery, as well as key phase and speed measurements, differential expansion measurements, tachometer and zero speed measurements, phase reference key phase signals, and measurement of piston rod displacement or drop in reciprocating compressors.

Specifically, the 3300 XL 11mm eddy current sensor system is suitable for shaft displacement, sloped-type expansion of steam turbines, piston rod position or rod settlement of reciprocating compressors, tachometer and zero speed, and phase measurement. The 3300 XL 25mm eddy current sensor system is more suitable for measuring the expansion difference on large and medium-sized steam turbine generators.
