可控硅簡稱SCR，是一種大功率電器元件，也稱晶閘管。它具有體積小、效率高、穩(wěn)定性好、工作可靠等優(yōu)點(diǎn)。在自動(dòng)控制系統(tǒng)中，可作為大功率驅(qū)動(dòng)器件，實(shí)現(xiàn)用小功率控件控制大功率設(shè)備。它的出現(xiàn)，使半導(dǎo)體技術(shù)從弱電領(lǐng)域進(jìn)入了強(qiáng)電領(lǐng)域，成為工業(yè)、農(nóng)業(yè)、交通運(yùn)輸、軍事科研以至商業(yè)、民用電器等方面爭相采用的元件。

可控硅的作用之一就是可控整流，這也是可控硅最基本也最重要的作用。大家所熟知的二極管整流電路只可完成整流的功能，并沒有實(shí)現(xiàn)可控，而一旦把二極管換做可控硅，便構(gòu)成了一個(gè)可控整流電路。一個(gè)最基本的單相半波可控整流電路中，當(dāng)正弦交流電壓處于正半周時(shí)，只有在控制極外加觸發(fā)脈沖時(shí)，可控硅才被觸發(fā)導(dǎo)通，負(fù)載上才會(huì)有電壓輸出，因此可以通過改變控制極上觸發(fā)脈沖到來的時(shí)間，來進(jìn)一步調(diào)節(jié)負(fù)載上輸出電壓的平均值，達(dá)到可控整流的作用。

可控硅的作用之二就是用作無觸點(diǎn)開關(guān)，經(jīng)常用于自動(dòng)化設(shè)備中，代替通用繼電器，具有無噪音、壽命長的特點(diǎn)。

可控硅的作用之三就是起到開關(guān)和調(diào)壓的作用，經(jīng)常應(yīng)用于交流電路中，由于其被觸發(fā)時(shí)間不同，因此通過它的電流只有其交流周期的一部分，通過它的電壓只有全電壓的一部分，因而起到調(diào)節(jié)輸出電壓的作用。

One of the functions of thyristor is controllable rectification, which is also the most basic and important role of thyristor. The well-known diode rectifier circuit can only complete the rectification function and does not achieve controllability. However, once the diode is replaced with a thyristor, it constitutes a controllable rectifier circuit. In a basic single-phase half wave controllable rectification circuit, when the sinusoidal AC voltage is at the positive half cycle, the thyristor is only triggered to conduct and there is voltage output on the load when a trigger pulse is applied to the control pole. Therefore, the average output voltage on the load can be further adjusted by changing the time of the trigger pulse arrival on the control pole, achieving the effect of controllable rectification.
The second function of thyristor is to serve as a contactless switch, often used in automation equipment, replacing general relays, with the characteristics of no noise and long service life.
The third function of controllable silicon is to act as a switch and voltage regulator, which is often used in AC circuits. Due to its different triggering times, the current passing through it is only a part of its AC cycle, and the voltage passing through it is only a part of the full voltage, thus regulating the output voltage.
