1、IGCT具有電流大、阻斷電壓高、開(kāi)關(guān)頻率高、可靠性高、結(jié)構(gòu)緊湊、低導(dǎo)通損耗等特點(diǎn)，而且造成本低，成品率高，有很好的應(yīng)用前景。
2、相對(duì)于IGBT而言，IGCT投放市場(chǎng)的時(shí)間較晚，應(yīng)用也沒(méi)有IGBT廣，技術(shù)成熟度不如IGBT。 目前的 IGBT和IGCT開(kāi)、關(guān)損耗都差不多，構(gòu)成的變頻器，效率也差別不大。 要論優(yōu)勢(shì)，主要是IGCT的耐壓目前比IGBT的耐壓高，應(yīng)用于高壓變頻器的話(huà)使得器件減少。但是目前的風(fēng)電變流器都是690V的，IGBT的耐壓也就足夠了。 IGBT和IGCT，誰(shuí)是電力電子器件的發(fā)展方向？目前學(xué)術(shù)界正在爭(zhēng)論，雖然IGCT出現(xiàn)晚，但至少在目前，還看不出它相對(duì)IGBT有什么優(yōu)勢(shì)。但也有可能隨著技術(shù)的發(fā)展，兩者并駕齊驅(qū)，或者都被某種新的器件代替。

與IGCT所對(duì)應(yīng)的是IEGT， IEGT也稱(chēng)為壓裝式IGBT （PPI)。
