Digital Signal Processor (DSP) is a microprocessor chip specially used for digital signal processing. The C4001011100 processor has a specific architecture designed to optimize the processing of digital signals. Common applications include audio signal processing, telecommunications, digital image processing, radar, sonar, and speech recognition systems, as well as common consumer electronic devices such as mobile phones, disk drives, and high-definition television (HDTV) products.

The goal of a DSP is usually to measure, filter, or compress continuous real-world analog signals. Most general-purpose microprocessors can also perform digital signal processing algorithms, but may not be able to keep up with this processing in real time. DSPS have a special memory architecture, are able to acquire multiple data or instructions at the same time, and often use discrete cosine transform (DCT) to implement data compression techniques.

According to its programmability, DSP can be divided into two categories: programmable and non-programmable. The non-programmable signal processor takes the flow of signal processing algorithm as the basic logic structure, there is no control program, and generally can only complete one main processing function, such as fast Fourier transform processor, digital filter and so on. The programmable signal processor can change the function to be completed by the processor through programming, and has greater versatility.

The Haval bus architecture of program instruction storage and data instruction storage is used in the internal chip of DSP. The special hardware multiplier and high precision analog-to-digital converter (ADC) integrated on chip are the guarantee of its powerful data processing capability. In addition, DSP widely uses pipeline operation and has special instructions to realize high-precision sampling of analog signals and complex digital signal processing algorithms.
