The IC698CMX016-ED is a control memory switch module for the PACSystem RX7i platform from the Programmable Automation Controller (PAC). The component is essentially a memory module, but the main function of the IC698CMX016-ED is to provide deterministic data sharing between the PLC and compatible devices over a fiber optic network using reflected memory technology.
The IC698CMX016-ED communication interface includes an LC fiber port that supports 2.12 Gbaud transfer speeds over multimode fiber media, a maximum distance of 300 meters or 984.25 feet, and supports dynamic packet sizes ranging from 4 to 64 bytes. Maximum network transfer rates range from 43 MB/s in 4-byte packets to 174 MB/s in 64-byte packets. The memory module is capable of communicating with up to 256 nodes per network and supports redundant transport mode operation.
