The IC698CPE040-FJ is a 1.8 MHz CPU produced by GE Fanuc for the RX7i series. The IC698CPE040-FJ uses a Pentium M microprocessor with 64 MB of user memory and 64 MB of user flash memory. Just like any other RX7i CPU, the IC698CPE040 is configured to perform real-time control of devices, processes, and material handling structures. The rack-mount backplane facilitates communication between IC698CPE040-FJ, I/O, and intelligent option modules through the VME64 standard format.
The embedded Ethernet port facilitates communication between the IC698CPE040-FJ, programmers, and different HMI devices. When powered on, the IC698CPE040-FJ performs routine self-diagnostic tests. During initialization, the LED lights turn on and off sequentially. After initialization, the OK LED light will flash and then light up. The RAM memory is protected by the lithium battery pack IC698CPE040-FJ.
To avoid memory loss, routine maintenance procedures should include regular replacement of the lithium battery pack. In addition to maintaining programs and data storage, lithium batteries can also run a calendar clock during power outages. The IC698CPE040CPU provides a number of important features, including automatic positioning of symbol variables using any amount of user memory, VME module support, a test edit mode that allows users to easily test modifications even while the program is running, bit word references, and three different serial ports. The CPU and module firmware can be upgraded via Win loader on the RS-232 or RS-485 serial port of the CPU.
