The Emerson Network Power MVME3100 SBC helps original equipment manufacturers of industrial, medical and defense/aerospace VMEbus platforms increase performance and capabilities to gain a competitive advantage while still protecting essential investments in VMEbus and related technologies. Customers can retain their VMEbus infrastructure (chassis, backplane, and other VMEbus and PMC boards) while improving performance and extending life cycle. In addition, the extended life cycle of Emerson Computing products helps reduce attrition in development and support due to frequent product changes.
The MVME310 is one of the first VMEbus products to feature the system-on-chip MPC8540 processor, providing VMEbus customers with a path forward for previous generation VME applications, particularly the MPC8240 and similar (MPC603 series) processors. System-on-chip implementations offer power/thermal, reliability, and lifecycle benefits that other architectures typically do not. The combination of a faster processor and the 2eSST VMEbus interface (the same as the MVME6100) provides significant performance improvements.
