Specialized transformer protection devices for protecting, controlling, measuring and monitoring power transformers and booster transformers, including generator transformer sets in power systems and industrial distribution systems

RET620 transformer protection measurement and control device constitutes differential main protection of double-winding power transformer and power generator transformer group. The RET620 also includes an optional automatic voltage regulation function and in-line tap-changer. The RET620 is also suitable for transformers of all Y-Δ connections with single or double buses with one or two circuit breakers and multiple switch switches. The device supports a wide range of manual and electric disconnecting switches and ground switches. The number of controllable devices depends on the input and output requirements of other applications. The amount of available I/O is increased according to the needs of ABB’s RIO600 remote I/O device.

The RET620 transformer protection measurement and control device features support for the substation IEC61850 communication standard, which covers vertical and horizontal communication, including GOOSE messages with switching signals and analog signals, as well as setting values based on IEC 61850-8-1. The device also supports DNP3, IEC 60870-5-103, and Modbus? protocols. Through PRP or HSR protocols, the RET620 provides an optional Ethernet interface for redundant Ethernet without delay or a self-healing RSTP ring network communication in the event of a communication failure. The solution eliminates the effects of a single point of failure and improves communication reliability. Applicable to Ethernet-based IEC 61850, Modbus? and DNP3 protocols.
