The digital storage oscilloscope converts the measured voltage to digital information by analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and captures a series of samples of the waveform. These samples are stored up to the point of determining whether the accumulated samples can represent the waveform. The digital oscilloscope then reconstructs the waveform. Digital oscilloscope is divided into digital storage oscilloscope (DSO), digital fluorescence oscilloscope (digital fluorescence oscilloscope) and sampling oscilloscope.
