The YS1700-000A34 is a programmable indicating controller, an electronic system for digital operation, designed for use in industrial environments. It uses a programmable memory in which instructions are stored to perform operations such as logical operations, sequence control, timing, counting and arithmetic operations, and controls various types of machinery or production processes through digital or analog inputs and outputs.

Early programmable controllers were mainly used to replace relays for logic control. However, with the development of technology, the function of such devices has greatly exceeded the scope of logic control, so it is now often referred to as a Programmable Controller (PC). To avoid confusion with the abbreviation for Personal Computer, the name Programmable Logic Controller is still used today.
